Mount Ngongotaha offering the visitor adventure coupled with magnificent views over the lake and city.
Mountain Action operates profitably under the site management of Paul Henderson.
The business is a small one, more suited to an owner-operator structure rather than corporate ownership, in what is a very competitive market, with customer flows sensitive to the weather as well more normal business factors.
The Incorporation is exploring new initiatives to expand the Incorporation's tourism investment.
Production Forestry
A management service is provided by Euan Mackenzie and Colin Hercus of FORTUS Ltd.
The Forestry resource covers an area of approximately four hundred hectares involving all three stations. Establishment has generally been in areas less suitable for farming with many areas planted for conservation purposes.
The stands are predominantly managed to maximise the long-term value to the Incorporation. The management objectives are to:
- Be self-funding in terms of re-investment and silvicultural maintenance.
- Manage the profit centre to maximise the value with regard to investment and maintenance.
- Produce a consistent high quality product
- Re-establish areas once logging has taken place
- Produce an even annual cash surplus in perpetuity.
Harvesting Operations
There is no logging this year.
Property Development
The Incorporation is currently developing a property develop programme for small areas of high value investment lands .
